Paddy Power iPad App

Our reviewers really like this app. The Paddy Power techies have produced a clean and simple experience for betting in the form of the Paddy Power iPad app. This type of app is a mobile site.  To take advantage of their welcome offer (where available) you simply need to first go to  the Paddy Power mobile site from your iPad & register your details with them by creating a new account. (T&Cs apply, 18+ New customers)

How to get the welcome offer on the Paddy Power iPad app

The process of claiming the bonus offer on the Paddy Power iPad app is pretty straightforward. Using the iPad’s web browser (normally Safari), first go to paddypower.mobi. The iPad version will be detected and displayed.  You’ll then have to provide the new user details after finding the Register link at the top of the screen.  Once through the process, you can take advantage of that Paddy Power risk-free first bet.

We feel that the Paddy Power iPad App is easier to use compared with a phone-sized screen. You can register after finding the Register button at the top right hand side.

The next stage is to fill in the required details such as your name, address etc. before moving on to completing your registration on the Paddy Power iPad app.

More on the Paddy Power iPad App

A lot of people are occasional gamblers and Paddy Power caters well for people who for example join up just to bet on major events. A good example of this is for those who like  betting on the Cheltenham Festival. Being the biggest time of the book makers’ year, and the Irish connections, the Paddy Power iPad app will serve up loads of specials for the festival.  You can expect the same for other major events too and in particular the big horse racing and football tournaments and leagues.

Some of the things that our users have said that they like about the Paddy Power iPad app apart from others include:

I like the justice payouts that happen from time to time. If you’re unlucky enough to get a particularly bad call in a game e.g. player sent off which the ref got completely wrong (never!) and changes the game, they sometimes pay out.  Don’t count on Paddy’s goodwill too often though!”

You may have heard of the Money Back Specials – Basically if your bet fails but another condition is fulfilled, you can get your money refunded.  Have had a few of these myself and it’s quite a relief”

Betting in-running, where odds are changing whilst an event is in play. Not so unique any more but worth mentioning, as Paddy was one of the first to offer this kind of in-play betting before it was really known as in-play.  Shows how Power is an innovator in its own way I think”

“Early payouts are great!! If a result looks like a ‘sure thing’ Paddy may decide to pay out early.  They have been known to regret this sometimes! All the better for us punters, though”

“I love the live streaming on the Paddy Power iPad app which is great for watching live events online, especially with the iPad’s ample screen size.”

The Paddy Power iPad app is continually updated with quality odds across a wide spectrum of markets

At the base of the iPad screen you can see that there are quick links to the important and frequently used areas.  In addition, the A-Z of sports is available where you can use the Paddy Power iPad app to literally bet around the clock if you wanted to.

Our verdict on the Paddy Power iPad app

A very good app right up there with the top iPad betting apps.  Easy to sign up for and simple to use.  Claiming the new customer offer after you sign up is just an additional bonus.  Use the links above to secure the offer.

The Paddy Power iPad app that can be downloaded from the App store is not really worth doing compared to using the mobile site as it takes up space on your iPad and basically does the same thing.  Also means having another thing open at once in addition to your web browser.

We like the Paddy Power’s app on the bigger screen and reckon that most punters will enjoy the craic of using it.

Paddy Power iPhone App

The ‘green team’ at Paddy Power have come up with a really easy to use iPhone betting app.  In fact the Paddy Power iPhone app is a streamlined version of what you’ll get on your computer when visiting Paddy Power website.

The process is simple to follow in that all you need to do to access the Paddy Power iPhone app is to visit this link from your iPhone (all models), sign up as a new account and claim the introductory offer (T&Cs apply, 18+ New customers)

Steps for claiming the intro offer on the Paddy Power iPhone app

There really isn’t much more to it than opening up the Safari web browser using your iPhone and then visiting the Paddy Power website. Once opened, you need to sign up as a new user by following the on-screen instructions. When done with the registration parts the Paddy Power iPhone app which is basically a mobile site. Now all will be in place to start betting on a plethora of sports, games and more.  Paddy Power offers new customers a really nice betting experience and in our view treat customers well.

The Paddy Power iPhone App’s easy to use touch screen navigation. Use the short-cuts at the top and bottom of the iPhone screen.

More on the Paddy Power iPhone App

When using the Paddy Power iPhone app you will soon find that it is really good for horse racing and football betting.  They frequently change their betting promotions at PP which makes things fun and some of the reasons they advertise why you’ll want to bet with the Paddy Power iPhone app include:

Money Back Specials: They sometimes refund what you bet even if your bet fails.  e.g. Money back if Team A v Team B is a drawn game.

Justice Payouts: Paying punters on losing bets when it feels the result goes the wrong way.

Early Payouts: If they think a result is a certainty, Paddy has been known to pay out early.  Risky for them but good for you.  e.g. Tiger Woods was looking certain to win the 2009 US PGA and Paddy paid out – then he choked and was beaten!

Betting In Running: In-Play odds which change frequently

Live Streaming: Broadcasting live events online

The Paddy Power iPhone app itself is also really good for racing odds. Every March they do a great Cheltenham odds betting service with tons of specials and you should also take a look on the Paddy Power iPhone app for Champions League betting odds, Royal Ascot betting and Wimbledon betting odds.  In 2013, losing punters using the Paddy Power iPhone app got their bets refunded when Andy Murray won the tournament thanks to a money back special.

The links on the app take you to shortcuts to commonly visited pages and there is a useful alphabetical listing of sports which reveals the massive number of lines that are available.  The Paddy Power iPhone app has several Irish sports to bet on, for example.

Again, claiming the new customer offer after you sign up is dead easy. Here at bettingappstore.co.uk the Paddy Power iPhone app is one of our favourites.

Paddy Power advertises heavily throughout the UK and Ireland and will be pretty well known to you if you live in these countries.  The Paddy Power iPhone app has been designed especially for the iPhone screen and you will quickly learn that it is an absolute doddle to use. Keeping things simple has worked well here!

Paddy Power Mobile App

Thanks to its auto-detection functionality, it doesn’t matter which mobile device that you access the Paddy Power mobile site and register as a new customer.  The Paddy Power mobile app site adjusts accordingly, whether you have an Android or Apple handset. We’ve tested the app on numerous mobile phones and tablets and found it easy to use; Thanks to their quick link menu found at the bottom of the screen (see screen shots below from an iPhone and iPad) you can find the most commonly used areas including current promotions.  Paddy specialises in sports betting so there are plenty of football and horse racing bets on offer.

Claiming the new customer offer

First, visit the Paddy Power mobile site here. Open up a new account by following the on-screen instructions. (T&Cs apply, 18+ New customers)

The new customer offer is usually straightforward to claim and thankfully it’s also generally as simple as it sounds.  There are a lot of betting offers available from numerous operators that involve a series of individual bets but we like the way that Paddy’s is pretty straightforward.

Once you’re up and running following registration you can of course choose to continue to use the Paddy Power mobile site to place your bets.  We recommend accessing it via the BookieBoost app (details below).

About the Paddy Power Mobile App

Paddy Power has become well-known as the most advertised bookmaker to come out of the Emerald Isle and the Paddy Power Mobile app has come up trumps with a clean and easy to use design for this app and mobile site.  One of the big selling points that we like in particular are their famed Money Back Specials.  It’s always nice to have a second chance to claw back some money when a bet goes awry but another event of their choosing also happens (for example, if a football match is a draw)

It goes without saying that you need to be over 18 to use the Paddy Power mobile app.  To get into the details off the app further, it’s well structured and allows you to browse by alphabetical listing (see tablet screenshot below from the Paddy Power mobile app).

To download the Paddy Power Mobile App

You can choose to use the Paddy Power mobile web site version or the download the Paddy Power mobile app which is available for all types of mobile. Of course these are practically identical although getting the Paddy Power mobile app means going through some additional steps.

It depends on which kind of mobile you have, too.  For the iPhone and iPad series you can try searching the App Store for the Paddy Power mobile app there.  Android users at time of review can’t get any real money betting apps from Google Play.  However, for both of these we recommend the BookieBoost app which gives you access to the Paddy Power mobile app plus plenty of others as well as loads of free betting tools.

BookieBoost centralises your betting in a single app, gives users live score updates, plus extras like betting calculators for football and horse racing so it’s well worth having on your smart phone or tablet.
You can get BookieBoost using the download links for Android and Apple devices below:

You can download this useful betting utility app from third part app stores such as GetJar (for Android users).

Paddy Power Android App

The Paddy Power web experience has been quite seamlessly designed to fit into the smaller screen of an Android mobile device. That means you have two choices when using your Android device, the Paddy Power Android app or the Paddy Power mobile site version. Ultimately these are practically the same thing, but getting the Paddy Power Android app just requires going through a few additional steps to achieve the same end-goal. Either way, you will first need to open an account to claim your introductory welcome before going mobile – which can be done using the link below.

First, claim the intro offer

From either phone/tablet or computer, visit the paddypower mobile site by tapping here and then set up a new account by following the on-screen instructions. (T&Cs apply, 18+ New customers only).   The introductory offer is usually as straightforward as it sounds with Paddy. Once you’re up and running with an account you may choose to continue to use the Paddy Power Android app ‘mobile site’ to place your bets. To download and install the app for Android, see below.

Download the Paddy Power Android App

There are different options available to get Paddy Power installed on Android devices in the form of an app.  You can, of course, carry on using the mobile web version or opt to download & install an app (APK file).

Please note that when you download and install an Android APK file, your device may ask you to adjust your security settings to allow apps from ‘unknown sources’. If you have previously altered your security settings to allow apps from outside the Play Store, however, then it should install without interruption.

The main app that comes highly recommended is to use the BookieBoost app for Android. It not only gives you full access to Paddy Power (and to a lot of the other reputable bookmakers), but BookieBoost has other features like betting calculators, live sports scores, fixtures and results.  Along with this there are also the special offers from all major bookies such as Price Boosts and Money Back Specials.  Get BookieBoost from either the official site or by downloading the app right here from Betting Appstore (below):

(BookieBoost – includes the Paddy Power app)

Bet Calculator on Google Play

Like we mentioned previously, to download BookieBoost onto your Android mobile or tablet you may need to enable security settings to install any apps that made available from outside of Google Play.  The BookieBoost APK download did used to be available on Google Play but the big G tightened their policy on betting apps even more than they were previously. So now you’ll only find it on specialist betting app stores like this one. You can also get BookieBoost on your Android phone or tablet from other third party app stores like the Getjar web site,  which is another well known alternative app store.  Getjar may at first seem a bit strange if you have never seen it before but it is just another app store that can be used by Android devices.

BookieBoost accesses the Paddy Power mobile web app when you use its shortcuts from the ‘My Bookies’ menu button.  You can also get Paddy Power’s separate installable app from links on the paddypower .com site but it is just exactly the same as the mobile web app so there doesn’t seem to be much point.  We have found that some betting apps are prone to crashing or hanging and this is something that you will definitely not want to happen – especially if it’s at a crucial moment before an event starts or if you’re sweating over a cash-out.

About the Paddy Power Android App

Paddy Power has been the best known bookie in Ireland for some time and the Paddy Power Android app does not disappoint in our view, with possibly the best betting app design we’ve reviewed – and that’s in spite of any introductory offer which is really just a ‘nice to have’. Also, we found that the mobile site itself works similarly well, providing the same wide variety of sports and games to bet on.

After thoroughly putting the Paddy Power Android app through it’s paces, our review team concluded that it is certainly one of the best Android betting apps on the market.  It has a ton of features, and these seem to increase each time you use it. PP has made it very straightforward to claim the intro offer – which you will need of course to be of legal gambling age in your country to use.  Money Back Specials can be particularly useful in certain situations, that’s for sure.

If you’re still wondering about other betting apps you can read reviews on the full list of Android betting apps here.

Some Epsom Derby History

First run in 1780, the race is named after the twelfth Earl of Derby, Edward Smith Stanley.  Legend has it that a coin toss decided who the race would be named after.  The man who called “heads” and lost was Sir Charles Bunbury. Sir Charles’ luck wasn’t all that bad though as the very first Epsom Derby was won by his horse, Diomed.  One hopes he got himself some good Epsom Derby odds that day, the 4th of May 1780.   He also won prize money of £1,065 15s.

It was at a party to celebrate the first running of the Oaks Stakes in 1779 that this coin toss took place, after the guests planned a new race.

Today, The Derby attracts a massive crowd with in excess of 125,000 people descending on the Downs on Derby Day every year without fail.

The current distance of 1½ miles has been in place since 1784. Before this the race was 1 mile. The Earl of Derby himself had to wait until 1787 to taste success in the race with a horse called Sir Peter Teazle.

The Oaks Stakes is still run, on the Friday, and is known today also as Ladies Day.  It is in fact a year older than the better known Derby Stakes and you can expect to see high fashion and a lot of accompanying hats.

On the Saturday, the feature race of the meeting takes place – The Epsom Derby.

Just as with the Grand National, many bookmakers on course will be taking bets on their Epsom Derby odds first thing in the morning – such is its importance in that day of racing.   There are, of course, more support races that take place around the main event which are also very hotly contested.

For example, The Coronation Cup, which takes place over the same course and distance  – but this is a race for four-year-olds and over instead of three-year-olds. As you can imagine, this is popular with race-goers as it often features horses from the previous year’s Derby and Oaks who are now ineligible for them.

One of the biggest other races of the meeting is the Dash, taking place over the fastest 5f in the world. It never fails to get the crowd going just prior to the Derby.

Such is the success of The Epsom Derby that 140 other countries now hold a “Derby”.  This Epsom Derby Odds and free bets review ends here. Good luck!

More on Champions League Betting

Founded back in 1955, the Champions League is European club football’s elite competition.  It was known as the European Cup until the 1992/3 season, when only the actual champions of each country and the defending champion participated. Then, in 1997 the runners up from the stronger European football leagues were permitted to enter the Champions League also.

Since 2009, the original Champions League trophy has is retained by UEFA, with a full-size replica produced for that season’s champions. Before that, teams that had won the UEFA Champions League five times, or three times in a row, were allowed to keep the cup, meaning that a new one was forged.  The 5 clubs to earn this were Real Madrid, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Milan and Liverpool.

The first 5 European Cups were won by Real Madrid, an incredible feat culminating in a 7-3 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt in 1959-60 at Glasgow’s Hampden Park in front of 127,621 spectators.  Throughout the history of this competition, legendary teams have claimed the title such as the Ajax and Bayern Munich of the 1970s, Liverpool of the 70s and 80s and Barcelona in the 2000s.

Today, Champions League betting is common practice, culminating in the Champions League Final which is watched by an estimated 100 million plus people who are keen to get the best Champions League betting odds.
